Federal Tax Credit for Solar Systems

In addition to the Maryland State Rebates, the Federal Government offers a 30% tax credit on the total amount spent installing your solar electric system.

• There is no maximum credit for systems placed in service after 2008.
• The home served by the system does not have to be the homeowner's principal residence to be eligible.

• For businesses there is a option to receive grant instead of the tax credit.

This tax credit can be combined with your Maryland State Rebate to offset almost 60% of the system cost.
